Description

In recognition of National Preparedness Month, the San Diego County Fire Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) is partnering with County branch libraries to host multiple, free emergency preparedness trainings during the month of September.

Guest presenters (SD County Animal Services, Red Cross San Diego, SD County Fire, SD County Office of Emergency Services and SDCF CERT) will walk residents through the four (4) phases of a disaster while educating residents on their roles in each phase.

  • Preparedness: (pets and people).
  • Mitigation: (fire prevention and home hardening).
  • Response: (evacuation planning and the new GenasysEvac Map).
  • Recovery:(Local Assistance Centers and the funding recovery process).

This presentation is intended to help rural community residents become disaster confident and resilient. This training will prepare residents with the knowledge to help themselves, their families, friends, and neighbors prepare for and navigate through the four (4) phases. Residents will receive personal disaster plan books to start their preparedness journey. There is a limited supply of Listos CA grant funded emergency preparedness door prizes for completion of the full presentation.
