4-Phases of a Disaster: The Resident’s Role

Guest presenters (SD County Animal Services, Red Cross San Diego, SD County Fire, SD County Office of Emergency Services and SDCF CERT) will walk residents through the four (4) phases of a disaster while educating residents on their roles in each phase.

The four (4) phases of a disaster or emergency management are listed below.

  • Preparedness: (pets and people).
  • Mitigation: (fire prevention and home hardening).
  • Response: (evacuation planning and the new GenasysEvac Map).
  • Recovery:(Local Assistance Centers and the funding recovery process).

This presentation is intended to help rural community residents become disaster confident and resilient. This training will prepare residents with the knowledge to help themselves, their families, friends, and neighbors prepare for and navigate through the four (4) phases. Residents will receive personal disaster plan books to start their preparedness journey.
